London Fashion Week inspired me to go everywhere, see everything, talk to everyone and wear everything residing in my wardrobe that simply doesn’t love the mud of Dorset. I must say a huge thank you to all my fashion mogul friends that have helped me on my mission, to infiltrate, illuminate and pontificate about fashion for people that are not teenagers but shouldn’t be sartorially sidelined just because of that. Lovely Modus Publicity are ever supportive and tolerant of my desire to be included and treated like a fully grown up blogger. Johnnie Boden, fellow swamp dweller down here in Dorset, didn’t bat an eyelid when I asked for help. My invitation arrived the next day. Huge love to him and his fully female dynasty.

Siren Call, Carine Roitfeld

Ok, gather round, this is the first, last and only call to arms (bottoms, bodies and legs too), to incite you to action, urging you to procure a piece of Carine Roitfeld, so to speak. Mme Roitfeld is essentially a very sassy  French fashion  expert/export. Her pedigree is superb a former editor of French Vogue, author and ever increasingly a style inspiration. She is looking back at us all from the dark side of sixty. She’s the beacon of light that’s going to steer us through the rocky times and have us all arrive at the party a little bit more fabulous and therefore a lot more confident. Carine Roitfeld styles herself in sharp sexy lines, with body highlighting shirts and sweaters, all of which provide unequivocal answers to ‘what shall I wear?’ and thanks to Uniqlo, pieces of La Roitfeld’s style vision are up for grabs at utterly un French fashion, prices.  themodeledit.com says yes please!

Truly Haute Couture

Dolce and Gabbana, Ata Moda, opera, Turandot, Puccini, Madame Butterfly, embroidery, evening gowns, women's fashion, luxury, flowers, tiaras,

It’s the Haute Couture/Alta Moda season, and because it was part of my modelling body clock, I can’t help but be interested. Many brands have clambered on to the Haute Couture catwalk, but only a few should really be there. Please refer to the link, as I could get boring on the subject. Anyway Dolce and Gabbana seem to have created a confection of a collection that encapsulates Haute Couture, although perversely because as they are Italian and show in Milan, it is called Alta Moda.  ‘Singularity is the thing about haute couture. Dolce and Gabbana said that only one of each outfit will be made’ As it should be because rightly or wrongly the cost of these outfits will be the downpayment on a house for most people. I feel that with a bit of research, which I’ve happily done for you, we can all reach into the sweetie bag of this collection, and decide which part of the treat we will adorn ourselves with. We will undoubtedly see fragments from the essence of this collection in all the familiar places.

Dolce and Gabbana, Alta Moda, luxury fabrics, embroidery, tiaras, womens fashion, evening gowns dresses

This collection is exquisite and I really wanted to draw your attention to it. I will choose my elements within its suggestions and integrate them into my look. The extravagant costume jewellery, the victorian high necked transparence, the nod to corsetry and I love the severity of the hair made sumptuous in tandem with the smokey eyes and red lips. All things that I am drawn to, what do you see?

If we want to be included, the language of Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Moda collection will be translated and made accessible by the moguls on the high street. This means that we can talk the talk whilst walking the walk.

You can totally enhance, illustrate and sexy up an outfit purely by upping your accessory game. Thanks to Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and every top fashion house that followed their lead, costume jewellery is abundant on the high street and is yours for a steal! Jeans and T Shirt instantly transform from uniform to individuality because of the way you’ve chosen to accessorise your look. Any of your looks. I root around everywhere and have great bits and bobs from Forever 21, Mango, Topshop, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Zara, and every possible second hand and vintage shop, here there and literally passport grabbing, everywhere. Eyes on the glittery prize. Well chosen accessories can give you style credit without spending loads of cash.

I want none of you to throw stones at me because I’ve presented you with what you may mistake for the impossible unattainable and unwearable, unless you’re a model on a catwalk, blah, blah. That’s you not concentrating. There is much to be partaking of out there this season, and themodeledit will be your tour guide for this trip! What I do want from you is applause because I’ve sat down, sifted and selected some of the overriding Ready to Wear trends for Spring Summer 2016. My pleasure. Have a look and choose how deep undercover you’d like to immerse yourselves in the diaphanous depths of this season’s style waves.

Yves Saint Laurent and I (time travel Tuesday).

YSL, Yves Saint Laurent, haute couture, french designers, pret a porter, models, modelling

When I asked my London Agency, Laraine Ashton IMG, to arrange for me to spend some time in Paris, I had one thing on my mind, and one thing only. To work for YSL. I had wallpapered my bedroom with tear sheets from magazines, and most of these pages were of YSL clothes, or ads from YSL campaigns. My favourite of which is shown below. How beautiful is that model? It sort of encouraged me that she had a mass of really curly hair…Tick!

Told You So

Told you so.
It’s nighties, naughtiness and a sensible coat, in case you bottle out! Everything, or just a little bit of this look by Celine will take you far and wide, and you probs won’t be travelling or arriving, alone. Under this thunderously good Cami Dress style, you can wear embellished bras, any kind of denim or linen shirt, or super utility T Shirts. On your feet not slippers, but Converse, trainers, high pointy shoes or ankle boots (how it was shown in the press show). Honestly, this is something you can work out for yourselves. Just exactly how ‘deshabille’ do you fancy playing it? Keep your winter coat at the ready, or a lightweight version, and as the Cami Dress is already appearing on the high street, ( I saw 2 really pretty versions in H&M in Yeovil this morning… !!!) get yours before they’re gone. Put it on with the H&M boyfriend cardi  that I featured in my last post (My Haul) and you can be first out of the blocks with this look.

My Haul

Quick precis of my how my Christmas Wish List’s Parts 1 and 2, performed.

H&M, H&M knitwear, boyfriend cardigan, anthracite grey cardigan

I am now in possession of the very lovely Zara asymmetric earrings, I have a firm promise of the Tiffany and Co, ring, for my upcoming birthday on February 12th, and I’m just about to press ‘purchase’ on my TOPSHOP silver chelsea boots. A very solid 50% success rate on my first attempt at a public Christmas Present List.  My top random Christmas gifts that I didn’t know I wanted until I got them were, a very tiny sparkly knit Boohoo tank top, new knee high black sheepskin boot slippers from Celtic and Co, my last pair lasted 4 years and I just love, love them, a very huge boyfriend cardi from H&M in a gorgeous and practical anthracite grey, a’ classic con twist’ camel coloured detachable lining trench coat from the Ines de la Fressange collaboration from Uniqlo ( which my lovelies is now no longer available anywhere apart from my wardrobe), and a lovely little flounce of a Brandy Melville T, in black. Always hits the spot.

Happy Christmas Me, Part 2.

I am so lucky and thankful to have so many wonderful things, most of them not tangible, so my Christmas list reflects little chinks in my wardrobe and on my dressing table.

Anyway, it’s good to have goals…

I’m as happy to mix designer and high street with jewellery as I am with clothes, which is good as I have much more fun like that and a far, far less restricted budget, although I do love real the jewellery classics, pearls, diamonds and platinum, but gilding the lily with fake fripperies is fun too. Thanks to Yves Saint Laurent and his inspirational accessories muse, Loulou de la Falaise, I’ve had the best masterclass in mix and match fake jewellery trickery ever. I have found fabulousness in the aisles of Mango, TOPSHOP, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters this season. Go on, root around, pile it on and don’t wear the same stuff two days running. You can wear it wrapped all around your wrists, dangling from your ears and in many coils around your neck. Put it all on with your t shirt and jeans, your fake fur, your leather or pleather anything, and utterly everything else that you own. I love masses of things jangling around my wrists, and I always wear a man’s watch. Makes my wrists look skinny!

I have featured 3 pieces that I’d like to own and wear on the same day, together, anywhere with anything. Huge silver wedding band ( no law against masquerading fraudulently in it), from Tiffany and Co. Diamonds by the Yard pendant necklace, also from Tiffany and Co. And lastly I crave these asymmetric sparkly earrings, as worn by pointy toed Darcy Bussell on Strictly Come Dancing, earning a 10 out of 10 from me and a thank you to Zara
