I have toyed with the idea of giving you insights into former models and what they’re doing now, because I want you to know that there is life after modelling. As I pondered the viability and your curiosity in this subject, Mick Lindberg’s Stitched Stories exhibition invitation slithered through my letterbox. Mind made up. Currently housed at Anthony Hepworth Fine Art Dealers, in Bath, Stitched Stories is Mick’s latest exhibition. Mick was a model whose pictures were stuck to my bedroom walls long before I threw my hat into the modelling ring. She has modelled all around the world with everyone in the industry who was anyone in the industry.
It’s almost impossible to describe the intricacy of these embroidery/collages. It is as though the little mice from Beatrice Potter have helped Mick to achieve the exquisitely minute stitching that binds these portraits together. I wanted to ask her which sewing machine she used, as the precision involved in the construction of her artwork is nearly not human. But then again, Mick herself is a Goddess. She has divine taste, an enormous capacity and tenacity to produce, be it Art or Clothing,or at all times her best self.
Everyone has their own style, even if they’ve nicked a little from a friend, the pages of Vogue or a Celebrity. I’m up for nicking a bit from Mick. She has transcended worlds and decades, with grace, beauty and talent.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. I’m saving up for a little piece of Mick’s world, to hang in mine.

I love the model edit blog, I love this article and I love Mick. My friend, my former neighbour and a big inspiration in my life in London in the eighties. I look forward to reading more about other recycled and even upcycled models. xox B

Thank you for the lovely comments, Barbara. Mick is hugely inspirational, honestly, I question whether she has more hours in the day than anyone else does, because she has so much to show for it. Beauty inside and out. xxx

Vanessa you have a great idea.
As Barbara said I love Mick eventhough we haven’t seen for too long. She is soo talented. We worked together many times. On her trips she used to bring her sawingmachine with her. Talented always with a smile on her face.
But you too Vanessa are a talented wonderful woman. I used to book you at FAM during my short time there as a booker. You have a great aura around you
Best of luck for your project

Otti, of course I remember you! Didn’t we work for Jil Sander together once? I always thought that you were perfection, sunny, golden, a natural beauty, no make up required and always a strong woman. Thank you for your very kind words. I would love to do a piece on you too, if you would let me? I’m going to report on what former Models are up to now. People are totally fascinated with us. XXX
