We have survived the deluge thanks to all our amazing supporters. Surely the last time  people had so much fun, walking through so much mud was at Glastonbury, until that is, Buckham Fair embellished the experience by adding so many, dogs and ponies into the mix.

Buckham Fair Pony and Dog Show.

dogs, people, committee, charity, Buckham Fair.,sea view

Buckham Fair is very close to my heart and I’ve been a member of the committee from it’s inception. We are 3 days away from our 7th Annual Fair, and over these 7 years, we have raised £250,000 for local charities. This year’s event will take place this Sunday 23rd of August. We open our gates (five barred ones) at 9 am. I expect you all to be standing there. With deference to my ethos which runs somewhere along the lines of, if you’re doing something anyway choose an outfit that sets you off well whilst you’re doing it and given that Buckham Fair incorporates Ponies, I’d just like to give you all the heads up that it’s not just horses that are being judged in the ‘Best Turned Out’ class…

London Routemistress

Tube Train, London Underground, ripped jeans, trainers, sunglasses, pole

Got nothing but apologies for not posting much at the moment. I have been route marching around London with a changing herd of children, some mine, some borrowed. We have been to Pleasure and Pain, at V&A which was fascinating. Go, Go (boots),
if you can. If only to see the teeny tiny shoes that the aristocratic Chinese ladies had their feet bound in order to fit into. Thank god for women like Gladys Aylward.

An Holistic Friendship

Vincent LaRouche, Creative Director at LAFCO

Lafco, friend, Vincent Larouche, luxury, holistic, design, candles, client

Vincent is someone that I met in Paris more than 25 years ago. I was modelling and he was designing Haute Couture Gowns. Our friendship has endured through mutual admiration .Vincent deserves my undying admiration, I just cross my fingers and hope that he never notices the chinks in my armour that my 3 naughty girls have made. We share a fussy, fascination with aesthetics and a frank and honest visceral sense of humour that neither of us are afraid to vocalise. Truly, I would follow Vincent to the ends of the earth if he said there was a particularly interesting shop there or designer sale…

Not a Very PC Mother.

Here I am, trotting about with Baby #3 at Pony Club Camp. It definitely takes all sorts, and a Horse. When we first moved down from London (my screams still resonate on the A303), Horses were definitely not on my shopping list. Couple of hours later we’d bought one…

I Can’t Hold a Candle to This

Candle, Champagne, Wax, essential oil, artisan

This beautiful, balmy, seductively scented candle brings my total recommendation of selected LAFCO products to three. I would, however, after researching their philosophy and production, unstintingly recommend the whole spectrum of their wares. The hardest decision for you, would be choosing your scent of preference.I am currently seduced by the Champagne theme and have been serenely wafting around at night, imbibing the smell of my LAFCO Champagne Candle.Knocking back the delicious aroma of this very intoxicating Cocktail of a candle.

Whining about my Wetsuit

wetsuit, stretchy, traumatic, struggle

Last shots of my wetsuit angst . Promise, sort of, until the angsty feelings reappear. It’s a difficult call. Wetsuit up and be warm, or  man up and freeze. The upshot is that the love /hate codependency on my wetsuit, relationship. ever endures.

Champagne Everywhere

champagne, fragrance, soap, oil, skin, beauty

Look what I have here. These Champagne soaps by Lafco, are excellent for dry, aging, super sensitive or damaged skin because they give back oil and nutrients naturally. They are perfect for use on your face since they automatically balance your skins natural sebum (the skin absorbs what it needs and the rest is washed away). This soap is more like a beauty bar than just soap. When you use it, you will notice that there is a silky layer that stays on for a minute or so then is quickly absorbed. Heaven.

The Rural Idyll

Washing line, laundry, whites,

How lovely is my tonal, themed washing line? Can’t get enough of the aesthetic of white on white. Anyone else with me on this? It’s not that I have masses of time on my hands for this kind of preciousness. It’s the little things that bring me so much pleasure…. Actually it’s the control thing again!

Unaccustomed As I Am

white dress, ray ban aviator, sunglasses, ankle boots, waistcoat

I have a very lovely friend named Anna Barez-Brown, and along with her business partner, Cal Whaley, they have created a concept which is called Shine for Women. This week Anna and Cal, invited me to speak at a reunion lunch for some of the women who have attended a Shine course since its inception. Here is my talk, which explains how I felt whilst doing it, and what I came away with. ( no, not a party bag! )
